Gale James Hall

Gale James Hall, beloved father, grandfather, brother and son, passed away at his home in Plain City Utah July 2nd 2009 to reunite with his Heavenly Father. He was born August 30, 1950 in Yakima, Washington to Virginia Stevens and Al Abrahamson. He graduated from Eisenhower High School in Yakima, Washington. He attended Yakima Valley Memorial College and Rick’s College. In the late 70’s he moved to Cache Valley, Utah. He held many jobs around Cache Valley and was currently employed at Internal Revenue Service in Ogden, Utah where he had worked for the past 24 years. From 1991 to 2003 he served as a city councilmember and Mayor of Millville, Utah. His proudest accomplishments as Millville’s mayor were the new street signs and the bell at the city offices. He enjoyed going to the Utah Leagues of Cities and Town’s Conferences in Salt Lake City, Utah and St. George, Utah. He enjoyed the people he worked with and serving the town of Millville. He loved to raise animals and especially enjoyed his chickens. He always had a beautiful garden and loved working in his yard. He was a very talented builder and was always building projects out of wood. He built a shop in his backyard with the help of his family. He was a very talented artist. He painted several oil paintings of mountain sceneries. He loved to go camping and during the summers he would take the family to Bear Lake almost every weekend. We made several trips to Topaz Mountain to camp and look for Topaz. As a family we made many fun road trips. We spent one summer driving from our home in Millville to Yakima, Washington where he showed us the home he grew up in, his high school and many places he remembered from his childhood. We then visited Seattle and Portland and then came home. He loved spending time with his family. He always made sure we knew that food storage and keeping a journal was extremely important to him. He had a very impressive journal which detailed his day to day life that he passed along to his children. He faithfully attended the LDS Temple and was very proud that he hadn’t missed a Friday for the last two months of his life. He was a faithful member of the LDS church and held many callings. He looked forward to attending every Sunday and had a very strong testimony. He was an outstanding cook. His specialty was breakfast Saturday morning for the kids. He always expressed his deep love for his children and grandchildren.
Gale is survived by his son Michael Hall, daughter Kimberly (Luis) Vargas, daughter Jennifer Hall, daughter Kellie (Tim) Crowley, and son David Hall. Grandchildren Sydney Crowley, Erik Vargas, Alex Vargas and another grandchild on the way. Step children Kayla Dominy and Donnie Dominy.
He was preceded in death by his father, grandparents and his cousin Jimmy.
A viewing for family and friends will be held Tuesday, July 7, 2009 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Millville LDS church, 110 South Main. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 p.m. Interment will be at the Millville City Cemetery.
