Garry Fredrickson age 77, passed gently to the other side on June 23, 2024, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. We felt those on the other side of the veil anxiously awaiting his return to his heavenly home. We dreaded the time we would be apart. Garry was born in Logan, Utah on July 31, 1946, to Jane Howells and Vernon Clark Fredrickson. He spent his youth in Avon, Utah in what he described as an idyllic place to grow up, hunting, fishing, camping, riding horses, and enjoying the surrounding mountains.
Dad graduated from South Cache High School in 1964. He married his sweetheart, Susan Draper in 1965. They became the proud parents of four children, Tina (Kenny) Allen, Noell (Travis) Hansen, Brady (Kathy) Fredrickson, and Branon Bryce Fredrickson.
At a young age Dad ‘s passion for flying began. He dreamed of climbing out of his second story bedroom window and stowing away on Santa’s sleigh to fly around the world. He said he just never could stay awake long enough. Then he wanted to be a fighter pilot, but he and his wife Sue couldn’t imagine being separated for as long as that would take. So, he decided to get his private pilot’s license. He worked hard to become licensed and soon was. He and mom logged a good many hours flying over the majesty of God’s beautiful earth. Garry was always easy to buy for on birthdays and Christmas. Model airplanes were a favorite! He loved World War II planes and flew in several, his favorite being the P51.
Dad worked at Hill Air Force Base for 38 years before retiring in 2005 when his most important work began. This important work included working beside Gerald Miller and Bob Sibert, creating Hyrum’s beautiful Salt Hollow Park; chauffeuring his grandchildren to and from school, taking Branon to work at Macey’s and helping him learn his responsibilities, attending ALL activities involving his children and grandchildren, horse whispering, tracking down smooth water for wakeboarding, restoring his “sick “1959 Impala, and taking care of his loving wife, his Suzy. Dad’s entire focus was always on everyone else. To Dad there was no such thing as “I” in any form, Team, Home, Church, Serve, Help and Support. Those were his words.
He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He held many callings including, High-Priest Quorum group leader, scout leader, ward clerk, and Stake Self-Reliance Chairman. His favorite calling, however, was that of keeping the church clean. He felt he was literally working for our Heavenly Father to create a place to feel the spirit, strengthen testimonies, and grow closer to our Savior.
Garry joined his family on the other side of the veil including his mother, his father, his in-laws, Bryce and Lucy Draper, and his nephew Hayden Hill. He is survived by his wonderful sister, Marsha Norman, step-mother Karen Fredrickson, brother Kevin (Lori) Fredrickson, sisters, Audrey Hill and Kimberly (Jerry) Jackson. He is also survived by his wife, his children and his eight (8) grandchildren; Drew, Bryton (Laurie), Jace, and Noah Allen, Tyler (Jacque) and Shae Hansen, Abigail and Tanner Fredrickson, all of whom were the light of his life.
