Gary A. Wootton

April 29, 1934 — April 24, 2011

Logan, Utah: Gary A Wootton, 76, passed away on Sunday evening, April 24, 2011, due to complications of Interstitial Lung Disease. Five days away from his 77th birthday. He was born April 29th,1934 in Heber, Utah to Leland Attewal Wootton and Alvira Pace Wootton. He graduated from Wasatch High School in 1952. He served in the Army and was stationed during the Korean War. He attended Utah State University where he studied Civil Engineering. While attending school he met and married his wonderful wife & sweetheart, Renee Petersen. They met at the Elite Dance Hall in Hyrum, UT. Gary always joked that Renee fell in love with his 1954 Ford Convertible. They celebrated their 54th anniversary this last October.
He owned and operated Gary’s Mobile Service Station on the south end of Logan where he made many friends and was able to tinker to his hearts content. He could fix anything, and he could make anything out of the simplest materials. He worked for Sears for eleven years, Volkswagen for two years, Axtell Chevrolet for three years, then to Thiokol for seventeen years where he retired in 1996.
His retirement consisted of snowmobiling in the winter, tinkering in the garage where everything was always in it’s perfect place, fixing lawnmowers for the neighbors, and anything else that might need to be done. He was a wonderful neighbor and friend to all. He spent his entire life meeting, talking and making new friends. In the summer he loved to go boating, water skiing, and head down to Lake Powell in the Motor home. Family was his pride and joy, and he loved his children and grandchildren. There wasn’t a time he didn’t have one of his children with him. Every year he looked forward to the camping trips and vacations with the family in the motor home. He loved having the family over for any occasion especially on holidays, and birthdays. Every Father’s Day we looked forward to Dad cooking bacon and pancakes on the grill and eating omelets stuffed with all the fixings. He will be greatly missed and loved always.
The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Russell Hirst Jr., Dr. Michael Francis and the Logan Regional Emergency Room & ICU Staff for their special care of our loving Husband, Father and Grandfather.
He is survived by his loving wife Renee P Wootton , his daughters Cathy Wootton Clayton, Denise Seamons (Ross) , son Leland Gary Wootton (Kayleen), his 4 Grandchildren, Stetson, Daxton, Kolton, and Oakley, and one Granddoggie Mogul, one Grandkitty Sam.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents and his siblings, Bert Wootton, Edna Wootton Hollingshead ,Hazel Wootton McBride, Vaughan Wootton and Ray Wootton.
As per Gary’s request, friends and family are requested to attend the viewing provided by Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center Street in Logan on Wednesday, April 27th, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
