WELLSVILLE, UTAH:
Gary K. Leishman, 75, passed away peacefully at McKay-Dee Hospital on June 28th, 2011, after a courageous battle with ScIaradermia.
Gary was born April 4th, 1936 in Logan, Utah, to Keith and Irene Leishman of Wellsville. He grew up there and was educated in Cache Valley.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1953 to 1957 in the Seabees and was stationed in the Marianna Islands then the Philippines. He was proud to serve his country.
Gary married Carol Jessop of Nibley on April 25th, 1958. Together they built a home In Nibley and shortly after moved to Wellsville to raise their family.
His love of heavy equipment lead him to his employment with Petersen Tractor and later LeGrand Johnson Construction, where he retired after 22 years. His love for this work lead him again to the construction of Nucor Steel where he became employed and also retired in 1997. Gary served as president for many years on the East Fields Irrigation Board. After fully retiring he spent his time traveling the country with his wife. Together they seen many new places and always had a good time with close friends.
He also enjoyed snowmobiling, golfing, and especially farming. He had a deep passion and love for all his animals. Friends and family was the joy in his life and he was always a man of his word. His family thanks him for showing them the value of hard work by his example.
Gary is survived by his wife Carol and his two children, Lynn (Perette) Leishman; and Kim (Kevin) Egbert and his parents; five grandchildren; Justin, Casey, Tyler, Marley, Shaelee and 3 great-grandchildren; sister Eloise (Clair) Obray; brothers Jim (Gaye) Leishman; Mike (Connie) Leishman.
A viewing will be held Friday, July 1st from 6-8 pm and Saturday from 10-11 am at the Allen Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center, Logan. A graveside service and military rites by the South Cache American Legion will be held for family and friends, July 2nd at 12:00 pm in the Wellsville City Cemetery.
May his spirit fly free of his tired body back to his Heavenly Father and those who loved him and have passed, knowing we who remain love him still and will forever be in our hearts.
