Afton Gayle Jensen’s wish was granted, to be reunited with her loved ones and her Savior on Oct. 2, 2013. The daughter of Mayme Russell Ravsten and James Ravsten, she was born Feb. 15, 1956 in Logan Utah. Gayle was the youngest of five children. She grew up in Clarkston, and as a child was a true tomboy. She loved being outdoors, and would rather be outside mowing the lawn rather than being inside cleaning. She loved all animals, especially horses, dogs, and her cat (pig). Gayle was an avid sports fan. She played softball and excelled at this particular game. This later led to a love of all sports especially football. She was a huge 49ers fan and had a framed, signed picture of Joe Montana which she proudly displayed.
She married the love of her life, Laurel Hodges Jensen on the eve of a horrible snow storm Dec. 14, 1974 in Logan, Utah. They were later sealed in the Logan L.D.S. Temple. This union produced five daughters and two sons, all of whom she was very proud.
Gayle loved family gatherings and spending time gardening. She particularly loved roses, and enjoyed snuggling down with a good book. She will always be remembered for her love and collection of porcelain angels, and anything that had to do with “Gone with the Wind”. She loved riding her motorcycle, much to her mothers’ chagrin. She also loved four wheeling and spending time outdoors with her family.
Gayle was preceded in death by her parents, two sister’s and one brother, and her daughter Amanda Lynn, (Tiny). She is survived by her husband, Laurel and her children, Bridgette, Lewiston, Dameon (JaCee) Lewiston, Alexis Johnson (Chris) Texas, MartieJo (Jeff Chamberlin) Tremonton, Rhett “Bubba” and Victoria of Lewiston, and her sister Leneia Rogowski, Hyrum. She is survived and will be missed by her four grandchildren.
Special thanks to the staff and caregivers at Pioneer Valley Nursing Home, the Team at U of U and special friends, Jennie and Jeff Siggard, who over the last few months of her life, spent many hours giving compassionate service and love to Gayle.
Gayle was an amazing mother and wife. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew her.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Monday, October 7th, 2013 at the L.D.S. Church at 16 S. Main in Lewiston. Interment will follow at the Hyrum City Cemetery, in Hyrum Utah. Condolences may be sent to the family at
