With profound sadness we announce the passing of Gaylen Gunnell, a man of steadfast character and a generous heart on October 29th, 2024. Known affectionately as “GG” by those who loved him and who was born on October 5th, 1956.
Before Gaylen’s retirement in 2019, he was a respected member of the Nucor Steel team. His dedication to his work was widely admired. In his leisure, Gaylen was often found hunting or playing a good game of Corn hole, his favorite. However, most of all, he cherished spending time with his friends and family.
Those who knew Gaylen would often describe him as a stubborn man most times, but his generosity knew no bounds. He was the kind of man who would give the shirt off his back for anyone. His life was a true testament to his generous spirit and kind heart.
Gaylen is survived by his son Bart Gunnell (Mackenzie), who was a beacon of strength for him. His memory will also be cherished by his siblings; brothers Paul, Lyle (Julie) and Nolan (Pam) Gunnell with sister Judy Lynne (Kent) Jenson and his grandchildren; Parker, Toni, McKenzie Jo, Kaden, Grayson and Traxton. Each of them carries forward his legacy of perseverance and love.
He was predeceased by his parents, Leland and Edith Gunnell, his brothers, Wayne and Vern Gunnell and his son, Corey Gunnell. The wisdom and love they imparted continue to be a source of strength for the family.
A viewing will be held to celebrate Gaylen’s life and legacy on Sunday, November 3rd 2024 at Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center, Logan between 6pm-8pm. Services will be held on Monday November 4th with a viewing from 10:30am - 11:30am and services starting at noon at 49 West 200 South in Wellsville. We extend an invitation to all those who knew and loved Gaylen to join us as we remember and pay tribute to his life. We would like to thank all the nurses, doctors and the hospice team at Rocky Mountain Care for taking such good care of him.
