Gene LaVon Maughan

Gene LaVon Maughan, 94, of Wellsville, Utah passed away May 17, 2024. She was born to Morris Clark Walker and Sylvia Maye Meyers on June 30, 1929, in Wellsville, Utah. La Von grew up in Mt. Sterling, Utah. She was raised on the family farm, where she gained her love for growing things and developed her many talents in making beautiful handwork. As the eldest of nine children she learned the power of a strong family.

Lavon married Marvin Edwards Maughan on November 9, 1948 in the Idaho Falls Temple.

Marvin and LaVon loved raising their family under the watch of the Wellsville Mountains. She was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She held her testimony close to her heart and loved to serve others.

She was preceded in death by her husband Marvin, her parents, son Jerry and daughter in-law Charlene Maughan, daughter Marva Lund, son Kelly Maughan, son in-law Steven Jensen, grandson Ammon Lund, great granddaughter Angel Ann Mast, sisters Venna Saunders and Melba Walker and brothers Lee, Bill and Ralph Walker.

She is survived by her daughters Darla (Thomas) Moore, Wendy (Terry) Lund and Sheila Jensen, daughter in-law Lucy Misrasi, foster son Alfred Benalli, sister Dora Parkinson, brothers Clark and Charles Walker, 21 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren with two on the way. As with her gardens, she loved to watch her family grow.

Funeral Services are under the direction of Allen-Hall Mortuary and will be held at 11 am on Friday, May 24, 2024 at the Wellsville 7^th Ward. A viewing will be held Thursday, May 23, 2024 at the Allen-Hall Mortuary from 6-8 pm. A viewing will be held prior to the service on Friday, May 24, 2024 at the Wellsville 7th Ward Chapel 660 South 100 West, Wellsville, Utah between 9:30 and 10:30 a.m.
