Genevieve Carter Schow, 93, passed away on Wednesday, November 8, 2006 at the St. John’s Hospital in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
Gen was born on January 23, 1913 to Luda Ethel Clayton Carter and Thomas George Carter. She was the youngest girl of six children.
Gen attended school in American Fork and Logan, Utah. As a teenager, she worked in the beet fields and picked fruit.
Gen married the boy next door, Leo Arnold Schow on July 15, 1932. Their marriage was solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple.
They reared four children: Carla (John) White of Willard, Utah; Lila (Fred) Findlay of Marbleton, Wyoming; Daryl Warren (killed in Germany while in the Army); and Vernon (Trudy) of Kemmerer, Wyoming, where Leo owned and operated Schow’s Drug Store. Leo died in 1971. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
Gen was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in Many capacities including Relief Society President and Young Women’s President.
Gen was also nominated for Mother of the Year when they lived in Kemmerer, Wyoming. Gen loved to sew. She made many beautiful hand-quilted quilts, dolls, children’s clothing and crocheted items including bedspreads, doilies and pillow case edges.
Mother was a good cook and had several favorite recipes - a special chocolate chip cookie recipe will be remembered by all the children.
