Geniel Andersen Pond

April 5, 1939 — August 7, 2024

River Height, Utah

Geniel Andersen Pond, of River Heights, passed away on Wednesday August 7,2024 in Logan, Utah surrounded by her family. She was born on April 5,1939 in Logan Utah to John M. Andersen and Oginda Jensen Andersen and spent her entire lifetime living in beautiful Cache Valley.

After graduating with honors from Logan High School, where she participated in student government, she attended Utah State University, where she received her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. She was a proud sorority sister of Alpha Chi Omega and was named The Alpha Chi “Dream Girl” in 1959. She was also a USU student body officer for two years while attending school.

On August 11, 1961 she married Rodger A. Pond, from Lewiston, Utah in the Logan Temple. They were married for 58 years before Rodger’s passing in November of 2019.

Her professional career began as a teacher at Adams Elementary that only lasted a couple of years because of her desire to be at home with her boys. After spending many years raising 5 boys, she returned to the workforce to help support them in going on missions and attending college. Working in the library at USU for 24 years, she met many great friends and loved her association with all the good people there. After her retirement from USU, she dedicated many years of service as a volunteer at River Heights Elementary in the library. That was a special place for her because of her love for children and enjoyment in hearing their laughter and seeing their success.

Her biggest priority in life has always been her family. Up until her sudden passing she gave everything she had to help her family succeed in life. All she wanted was for everybody to be “happy” and blessed. Her acts of service to loved ones, neighbors, friends and even strangers will always be remembered.

Some of her favorite things to do were to crochet, do genealogy work, follow her beloved Aggies or her family in their sports endeavors, or enjoy a tall Diet Coke. She was always someone’s best friend, biggest fan or confidant if you needed someone to keep a secret. She was always there when someone needed a helping hand.

She had an incredible relationship with, and testimony of the Savior, Jesus Christ and His restored gospel. She served faithfully in many callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, which always brought her joy to be of help to someone else. Her regular attendance in the temple was also something that she looked forward to every week.

She had so many great friends in all aspects of her life but especially those kind, longtime friends in River Heights who have always touched her heart. Whether in a dinner club, literary club, D.U.P, Church or a friendly neighbor, she loved you all.

Geniel is survived by her 5 boys, Brad (Julie), Chris (Geniel), Scott (Andrea), Steve (Melissa), Ryan (April), as well as 14 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. She is also survived by 1 brother, Gary (Debbie) Andersen of Bountiful.

She was preceded in death by her spouse, parents, in-laws, and an older brother, Jay.

Mom, we will miss your extreme generosity, your humble Spirit and the strength of family that you always instilled in us. You kept us together by serving us and serving others and we will see you again as better people because we want to follow your example.
