Hyrum, UT. - George Hyrum Wilson, 71passed away into the arms of our loving Heavenly Father after a valiant battle with cancer on October 21, 2010. He was born to Ellis & Erma Wilson in Panguitch, UT. on December 20, 1938.
He enjoyed an adventurous childhood growing up in southern Utah. This is where he learned to love and respect the outdoors.
George graduated Woodward High School in 1956 and went on to graduate from Dixie College. He later attended Utah State University majoring in Forestry & Land Management.
He served in the Army, Army National Guard and the Army Reserves for a combined total of 28 years.
George married Julie Ann Hayball, who proceeded him in death, March 21, 1969 in the St. George, Utah Temple and then later married Linda Jeanne Nipper, March 17, 1984 in the South Jordan, Utah Temple.
George has a strong testimony of the fullness of the Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints. This was always a constant theme through out his life. He loved to go bird watching, camping and cooking Dutch oven dinners. He served a 28 year calling to the LDS Logan Genealogical / Family History Library.
George is survived by a plethora of family consisting of 6 brothers, 5sisters, 6 sons, 4 daughters, 29 grandchildren and 3 great grand children.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday October 27th at 12:00 noon in the Hyrum 9th Ward Chapel. 455 East 100 South. Friends may call at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center St., on Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00pm and at the ward on Wednesday from 10:00-11:30am.
