Georgia Kidman Edlund Hunt

Dec 10, 1936 – Jan 29, 2024

Our loving Mother and Grandmother, Georgia Kidman Edlund Hunt passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on January 29, 2024. She was welcomed with open arms by her husband, David, her son, Roberther parentssiblings and many others.

Throughout her 87 years of lifeGeorgia had a large impact on others through her sincere acts of kindness, service and love. This pattern started young, as she worked on the family farm in Mendon, Utah.  Born to Chester Whittenberg Kidman and Isabel Simpson, Georgia was the third of six children. When she was young, Georgia could be found beside her father, helping drive the tractorbottle-feeding animals, and caring for her younger siblings. Georgia had a beautiful smile, and a way of making everyone feel loved and accepted. Her grace and beauty were celebrated when she was crowned Queen of the May in the 1952 Mendon May Day celebration.

Georgia met her husband David O. Edlund at a church dance. They married on March 30, 1953, in Pocatello, ID and their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan temple.  Georgia had an expansive sense of family. They raised 6 children, Wendy Dupaix (James), Carrie Jackson (Garry), Robert Edlund (Elissa), John Edlund (Karen), Lisa Anderson (Doug) and James Edlund. Georgia also took in, fostered, and welcomed many others into her home. Her kind heart and open door turned many into family.

David and Georgia moved to Elkhart, IN in 1965 and lived there for 25 years.  Georgia attended Southwestern Michigan College and earned her degree as a Registered Nurse.  She worked for many years at Elkhart General Hospital.  Georgia and David made many life-long friends in their ward and neighborhood in Elkhart. They also maintained loving family ties by bringing their kids on annual trips to Utah over the years. When David retired, they returned to Mendon, Utah.

Georgia had a sure knowledge and testimony of her Savior, Jesus Christ and the Plan of Salvation. She loved serving in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where she had many callings. Whether she was serving in the Primary, as the Relief Society President or serving beside David as temple workers in the Logan temple, she found much joy in service. Georgia cherished the many friendships she made through serving in the church. Georgia also was active in Daughters of Utah Pioneers.

Georgia and David were wonderful grandparents to all their 35 grandchildren and 59 great-grandchildren. They enjoyed taking the grandkids fishing, riding horsesplaying cards and watching movies with them. Georgia loved to make quilts for her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  When David developed Parkinson’s disease, she was a devoted caretaker. They had been married 60 years, and Georgia was heart-broken when he passed in 2014.

After David died, Georgia found solace by serving the Lord in the Logan temple, where she met Richard Hunt from Preston, ID. Georgia found joy in life again with Richard. In July of 2016, they married. They enjoyed a warm companionship and shared a rich life with both loving families for over six years, until his passing in December 2022.

We extend our deep gratitude to the nurses and caretakers at the Williamsburg Assisted Living, Avamere at Mountain Ridge, and from Atlas Home Health and Hospicewho provided care and kindness to Georgia in her time of need.
