FISH HAVEN, IDAHO: Gerald (Jerry) Dee Allen,83, returned home after an extended illness on August 3, 2016. His children and wife, Bonnie, were privileged to be at his side. He will be remembered as a "gentle giant," always willing to help anyone at anytime, with whatever needed "fixin."...a true handyman at heart. Jerry was born in Hyrum Utah on September 11,1932. He graduated from South Cache High School. He adored his sweetheart Bonnie, and was seldom seen without her at his side. It didn't take long for him to convince Bonnie to be his bride. As a young man, he served in the US Army and excelled as a leader while in Korea. His talents and occupations were many. He and Bonnie retired from Hill Air Force Base and found retirement a little boring, and decided to buy land at Bear Lake. There, they built the cabin of their dreams. It became the place where the family came to be with Grandpa and Grandma. A few years later they found another playground in Saint George, Utah. Dreams do come true, now they could golf year around.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Bonnie Jean (Richards); Brother, Willard Allen (Eydie); Daughter, Kathy (Tyler)Blackner; Daughter, Cyndi (Chad) Chamberlain; and Daughter, Tammy (Allen)Petty. Also, 13 Grandchildren and 21 Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Alvon Allen; his son, Mike Allen and grandson Trace Blackner.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to their friends at Access, Kathy Perkins and Anne Burbank. They were truly Angels sent from Heaven.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 8 at 2:00 pm in the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center, Logan. There will be a viewing from 12:20 - 1:30 pm. Interment will be in the Hyrum Cemetery with military honors. Condolences and memories may be shared online at
