"Together Again"
Geraldine “Geri” Louise Hixson Taft, 90, passed from our world on Tue, May 14, 2019.
She was born in Brush Valley, Pennsylvania on March 3, 1929 to Glenn Joseph Hixson and Thelma Eliza Bitner to a family of 14 children. Jack, William, Hazel, Therma, Jimmy, Wayne, Ron, Don, Glenn, Gladys, LaRue, Marilyn and Harold.
She married Ellis Mason Taft in Lancaster, PA on October 30, 1952 and continued their loving relationship, spanning decades, until Ellis’s death May 26, 2010.
Her surviving 4 children: Janice Trygstad, Janette Litz (William Jackson), Ellis Glenn Taft (Christie), and Gerald Taft. Her Grandchildren: William J. Litz, III “B.J.” (Gwen), Laura Taft (Kole), Brandy Jo Trygstad (Adam), Brianne Litz Olguin, Claire Elizabeth Taft (Carlos) and Evan Taft. She was great grandmother to Brody, Brooklyn, Steven, Sadie and Ellis and Garrett.
Mother got joy from any and every child. We watched her over the years, babysit other family’s children as well as her own grandchildren. To this day, most of them call her “Mama Taft”. She would put kids in wagons and walk all over town with them, shopping and having fun, stopping at a park or two along the way. We believe her soda obsession began in the early 70’s when she would drink the cola product all year long so she could provide bottle caps to each neighborhood child so they could get into the theater for Saturday Matinees with their 6 bottle tops!
She spent most days with a grin on her face, laughter in her sparkly eyes, and just plain happy! She loved to be joked with and always told us that if someone is joking with you that means they like you! She always wanted to be liked and truly was!
Geri and Ellis are BACK TOGETHER AGAIN AT LAST!
