Glen Dee Gibbons our beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away peacefully at the age of 82 surrounded by his family. Dee was born July 25, 1933 to Virginia Scott and Bernice Gibbons. The family lived in Nibley, Utah were he spent much of his childhood on the Gibbons family farm. The family later moved to Inglewood, California where Dee graduated from Inglewood High School. Dee lied about his age and joined the Army National Guard for “extra cash” while in high school. He was soon called to active service and spent two years in the United States Army serving in Korea and Japan working as a reconnaissance engineer. He was honorably discharged at the age of 19 with the rank of Sergeant First Class.
After returning home he met and married Conna Doris Atkins in Compton, California. Their marriage was later solemnized in the St. George LDS temple. He attended community college until making the decision to return to Cache Valley where he attended USU graduating in 1957 with a bachelor’s degree in Dairy Science with a minor in engineering.
Dee eventually settled his family in San Jose, California where he worked for Lockheed Missiles & Space Division working on re-entry systems designs. He also invested in several businesses. He later came home once again to Cache Valley, for good this time. He purchased the Morgan farm where he was given his first job as a boy in Nibley near the old family farm. Dee worked for Morton Thiokol as a Liaison Engineer on the space shuttle and again invested in several businesses.
After retiring, he and Doris served an LDS mission in England and also served as temple workers in the Logan temple.
After the death of his wife Dee remarried to Irena Gedeika Ratkeviciene on July 11, 2008 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Dee had many interests including hunting, jewelry making, scuba diving, rock hounding and genealogy. He was handy and could fix or build almost anything.
