Glen O Waite

June 11, 1932 — December 7, 2013

Glen Owen Waite, (T-Bone to his friends) passed away at home Dec. 7th, 2013 with his loving wife and family at his side. He was born June 11th, 1932 in Hyde Park, UT the son of Owen and Norma Harris Waite. Being the only son of four children he was the apple of his mother’s eye, he could do no wrong and always made his parents and family proud. Glen spent his childhood in Hyde Park where he learned the value of hard work helping his father. This served him well throughout his life. Glen attended schools in the valley and graduated from North Cache High. After High school he married the love of his life, Karma Saunders of College Ward on March 21 1952. For 61 years together they worked hard and played even harder raising their family in College Ward. For the past four years Glen and Karma have lived in Nibley, Utah.
Glen was a active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He served in many callings, but his favorite was having the privilege of being the Bishop of the Logan 35th /Woodruff Ward. He had a strong testimony of the Gospel and was a great example for his friends and family. Glen and Karma worked at the Logan Temple for 10 years until they were called to their first LDS mission. In 1996-98 they served in the Leeds, England Mission where their testimonies and love for the English people grew strong. Their second mission was in 2005, with the LDS Employment Office, where they helped many families.
Glen was a very giving man and he served hundreds of volunteer hours for Logan Regional Hospital and delivered Meals on Wheels for over 12 years with his wife.
Glen was a man of very few words, but he had a good heart and you knew where he stood at all times. He loved his wife and family and was one of the hardest working men you would ever know. He was a truck driver by trade, but he always had two or three side jobs as well. His friends and family enjoyed his Christmas trees, fruit in the fall, and helping with the hundreds of pallets he repaired. He raised quarter horses and always had several for his family to enjoy. He was part of the Cache County Sheriff Search and Rescue Posse for several years. He was so proud of his farm with every kind of animal you can imagine, Deer, Ostriches, Llamas and Zebu, just to name a few. He was a Mink Rancher for years and this is where he taught his children the value of hard work. He always had a dog by his side and Annie will miss him dearly. His children and grandchildren loved the farm and spent hours with Grandpa and his animals. Glen loved his garden and flowers. He was featured in the local newspaper several times for his beautiful home improvements and flower beds. He was always so proud of his huge blossoms in the spring and couldn’t wait to show them off.
You could not have had a better fishing buddy. Glen loved his time with friends and family fishing his favorite fishing holes and was still fishing with the help of his wife up until a few months ago. He enjoyed bird watching and keeping his many birdfeeders full. He was an avid JAZZ fan and you could hear him cheering blocks away. Glen and Karma were part of the Levi and Lace Square dancing club and were the presidents of the club in 1980. They enjoyed many years of dancing and being with friends performing all around the Valley.
One of the favorite memories the family will always have with Glen, is the yearly “Birthday Party” where the family spent three days at a cabin eating, playing, and making memories.
Glen is survived by his wife, Karma and six children, Dale (Meagan) Waite of Nibley; Paula (Roger) Bradford of Samaria, Id; Kristie (Jarvis) Johnson, Logan; Karren (Larry) Swenson, Providence; Kathryn (Mark) Gudmundson, Logan; and Mark (Jodi) Waite of Saratoga Springs, Utah. He and his wife also helped raise several Indian Students, helping them better their lives and their families. John Benalli had a special place in their hearts. He was like a son and he lived with them from the age of eight until he graduated from High School. He visited often up until his death in 1985. Glen has 34 grandchildren, 55 Great Grandchildren and one Great, Great Grandchild. He has two sisters; Rosalie (Willard) Saunders of Hyde Park and Nancy (Bert) Freeman of Helena, MT. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Joan Griffen of Brownwood, TX.
