She was born in Logan to Jesse Edward and Barbara Smith Gilgen on August 6, 1938. She married Ivan Blaine Neilson in 1953 in Logan, Utah. They were later divorced. Gloria attended Cache County schools and lived in Cache Valley her entire life. She taught her children the value of hard work and helping others which has greatly helped them in their lives. They enjoyed the time they spent together as a family. Gloria loved her grandchildren more than anything. They have fond memories of her, the candy drawer and the famous Christmas sugar cookies.
