Gloria Gilgen Neilson
LOGAN - Gloria Gilgen Neilson, 73 passed away January 4, 2012 at the Logan Nursing and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Logan to Jesse Edward and Barbara Smith Gilgen on August 6, 1938. She married Ivan Blaine Neilson in 1953 in Logan, Utah. They were later divorced. They were blessed with six wonderful children. Four sons Donald (Janet) Neilson of Twin Falls, Idaho; Paul Blaine (Leila) Neilson of Logan, Utah; Kelly Kay (LaDawn) Neilson of Wellsville, Utah and Daniel Ivan (Tammy) Neilson of Mendon, Utah and 2 daughters Julie Ann (Roger) Blechert of Wellsville, Utah and Lauralee (Rex) Womack of Hyrum, Utah.
Gloria attended Cache County schools and lived in Cache Valley her entire life. She taught her children the value of hard work and helping others which has greatly helped them in their lives. They enjoyed the time they spent together as a family. Gloria loved her grandchildren more than anything. They have fond memories of her, the candy drawer and the famous Christmas sugar cookies. On December 4, 2004 she fulfilled her desire to be endowed in the Logan LDS temple. Even though she experienced many challenges in her life, she always had a smile to share. Gloria's favorite saying was "My greatest blessings call me Mom".
She is survived by her six children and two brothers Gary (Linda) Gilgen of Providence, Utah and Steven (Marci) Gilgen of Ogden, Utah and two sisters Elaine Hagood of Providence, Utah and Jean (Rick) Mayer of Logan, Utah. She has 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Barbara Ann Albera.
The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers at Logan Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the compassionate care that they have given to our mom.
A graveside service will be held at 12:00 pm Monday, January 9, 2012 at the Logan Cemetery. A viewing
will be held from 10:00 am to 11:30 am at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 E. Center St. in Logan. Interment will be in the Logan Cemetery.
