LOGAN, UTAH: Gwendolyn Wiscombe Jones, 87, of Logan unexpectedly passed to a peaceful place on Monday, December 19, 2005 at the Logan Regional Hospital with her family by her side.
Gwen was born on October 26, 1918 in Roosevelt, Utah to Arthur N. and Blanche Clark Wiscombe. She is the beloved wife of the late Dr. E. LeRoi Jones. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on August 15, 1938. She is the devoted mother of Marlene and Cleve Jensen, Blackfoot, Idaho; Kent LeRoi and Ann Jones, West Jordan, Utah; Jennise Brown, Lindenhurst, NY and Michelle Frodsham-Myers, Logan. She is the caring sister of Ray and June Wiscombe; Sharon and Helen Morton; Marjorie and DeVon McKee; Erold Wiscombe; Arthur and Joy Wiscombe and Cloyd Wiscombe. She is the loving grandmother of 13 Grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren with three more on the way.
Gwen attended schools in Roosevelt, Utah, LDS Business College in Salt Lake City; Brigham Young University and Utah State University where she graduated Cum Laude. She taught school in Logan for several years and then taught at the Inter-mountain Indian School until she retired.
She was a good friend to many. She was always cheerful, humourous and gracious. She will be missed greatly by her many friends, club members and family. She was a wonderful example of a woman of strength, independence and religious conviction. Her sweet tender love will always be in our hearts as we follow her example. We love you and will miss you dearly.
Her family would like to invite anyone who would like to share in her memories to join us at a funeral service on Thursday, December 22nd at 1:15 pm in the North Logan Third Ward, 2540 North 400 East with President John Evans conducting. There will be a viewing on Wednesday from 6-8 pm at the Allen-Hall Mortuary and at the church on Thursday from 11:00 - 12:45 pm. Condolences may be shared with the family at
