October 29, 1908 — February 12, 2007

LOGAN, UTAH: Harriet Reese Eliason, 98, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 12, 2007, in Logan, Utah. She was born on October 29, 1908, in Benson, Utah, to Alma Victor Reese and Rhoda Woolf Reese. She married Merlin Eliason in the Logan LDS Temple on November 28, 1928.
She is survived by her sons, Dan R. Eliason, Logan, Max D. Eliason (wife Joyce), Salt Lake City, Utah, and daughter LuAnn Dodd (husband Larry) Merritt Island, Florida, 8 grandchildren-and 22 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Merlin, her son and daughter-in-law, Larry and LuDean Eliason, her daughter-in-law, Jo Eliason, and her grandson, Gordon Dodd; also by her sister Afton Smith, her five brothers, Victor, Frank, Dean, Don and Bert and all of their spouses.
Harriet was a life-long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She devoted her life in service to others. She taught by precept and example the true meaning of "love one another" by giving unconditional love and support to her family and associates through their trials and victories. She enriched the lives of many with her talents as a cook, seamstress, homemaker and peacemaker. As a member of the Logan 3rd Ward for over 66 years, she derived her greatest satisfaction from the years she was involved in compassionate service programs. Her family will be eternally grateful for her loving care and dedication to them and for her example of selfless service to others. She was our "angel on earth".
She supported Merlin in his successes in the livestock and meat packing businesses through Eliason Packing Company and Eliason Livestock Trucking Company, and as a member and President of the Logan Rotary Club and the Cache County Chamber of Commerce, and as Chairman of the Logan City Civil Service Commission. They were members of the Logan Knife and Fork Club and were strong supporters of the athletic programs of Utah State University and the Old Main Society.
The family expresses sincere thanks to the staff of the Sunshine Terrace in Logan for their kind and dedicated care of Harriet for the last five years of her life. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 17, 2007, at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 E. Center Street in Logan.
