Hazel Marlena Leishman, 77 passed away peacefully surrounded by family at her home on January 14, 2011. She was born December 4, 1933, in College Ward to Edward and Ida Wyatt Olsen. She married Homer Maughan Leishman on December 27, 1950 in the Logan Temple. Hazel grew up on her dad’s farm doing farm work—learning the importance of hard work and responsibility. Early in life she learned how to operate her father’s farm machinery in Blue Creek and then later continued the love of farming with her husband and family. She enjoyed baking bread and cooking, making afghans and quilts, and also spending time in her yard. While she had many joys and hobbies in life, she was happiest in her John Deere tractor doing field work.
Hazel was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many church positions— Relief Society President, Primary and Sunday school teacher. She also served as a Temple Officiator in the Logan Temple for many years.
She is survived by three sons; Kim (Candace), Matt, and Paul (Gay) all of College Ward; and daughter, Taunya Roberts of Hyrum; and also 13 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters, Myrtle Clark (Sam) of Logan; and Pat Nielsen (Dale) of Midvale. Hazel was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Homer; three brothers, two sisters and her parents.
