Hazel Hancock Johnson

May 19, 1921 — February 21, 2006

Hazel Hancock Johnson died of a sudden illness Feb. 21, 2006 in Tucson, AZ.
where she was visiting family. Hazel was born May 21, 1921 in Glasgow, Scotland to Sarah and Alexander Sands. Hazel served a mission to
England in 1941-43. She married Reed Hancock 2 Apr 1947 in the Salt Lake Temple.
Following the death of Reed in 1983 Hazel served another mission in
South Carolina. On July 8, 1994 she married James Johnson. She served with
love in the Logan Temple for 20 years. Her life was a shining example of love
and service. So many have received a ‘wee note’, a ‘wee poem’, a ‘wee pat
on the back’, or her famous ‘wee loaf’ of bread, lovingly baked and delivered
to those for whom she cared. Many more, young and old, have received a
loving hug from ‘everyone’s grandma’. We will miss her here, but heaven
rejoices because she has come home.
She is survived by 7 children: Alice Barfus, Hyrum; Dan Hancock,
American Fork; Karl Hancock, Salt Lake City; Gary Hancock, Afton, WY; Paul
Hancock,Smithfield; Marie Tripp, Tucson, AZ; and Ruth VanScoyk, Safford, AZ; 5
brothers and sisters; Effie Edwards, Salt Lake City; Jim Aitken,
Payson; Ruth Little, Richmond; John Aitken, Salt Lake City; Adelia Richens,
Myton; 32 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
