HELEN BRUCE IPSEN
1916-2013

Helen Bruce Ipsen, born 12 September 1916 in Montpelier, Idaho to James Bearfield and Lillian Mary Grimmett Bruce, passed from this earthly life on 12 January 2013 in Logan, Utah. Helen attended school in Star Valley, Wyoming and Montpelier, graduating from Montpelier High School. She also attended LDS Business College in Salt Lake City, Utah. She married Ross M. Clark on 28 June 1934 and joined him for the last six months of his Northern California Mission service. They had one child, Dee Ann, and were later divorced. She married Allen Loren Ipsen on 6 October 1945 in Salt Lake City, Utah. That marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple on 20 May 1954. Helen and Al had one daughter, Marsha.

Helen was an energetic and vivacious person throughout her life. She was active in community affairs including PTA and as an election judge for many years in the Bear Lake valley. Helen worked side by side with Al in his businesses of the Montpelier Milling Company and Pillsbury grain elevator. Service to her family, friends and neighbors, and in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was her greatest legacy. She and Al treasured their experience serving together for nine years in the Logan Temple. Helen served for twenty-one consecutive years in the ward or stake Mutual association. She also served as a stake Relief Society president and teacher in all the auxiliaries. An immaculate home and excellent food always awaited Helen’s many family members and friends who came to enjoy the atmosphere there and her warm and caring spirit. She was a master at organization. “Anything worth doing is worth doing well” was the adage Helen followed.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Russell Grimmett Bruce, Nedra Bruce Burgoyne, and Gean Bruce Grimes; and grandsons, Jeffry Clark Brown and Todd Allen Brown. She is survived by her husband Allen, Logan, Utah; daughters, Dee Ann (Michael) Brown of South Jordan, Utah, and Marsha (Douglas) Hyldahl of Logan ,Utah; seven grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
