Helen Allen Lynch
1928-2018
Our dear mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister, Helen June Chugg Allen Lynch passed away on April 20, 2018, at the age of 89. She was born in Providence, Utah to William Duard and Lillie Elizabeth Frederick Chugg on June 14, 1928. She grew up in Providence the middle of 12 children. She was just 12 years old when her father passed away. Helen learned to work hard and was a great help to her mother.
She graduated from South Cache High School where she met Thair Gale Allen. They were married March 25, 1948 in the Logan Temple. After moving around for a bit they settled in Providence where Helen and Thair bought the Chugg family home in Providence and raised their seven children, Tereisa A Bigo, Kurt Thair Allen (Kallee), Bruce Gail Allen (Jan), Candis McMurdie (Douglas), Russell Duard Allen (Lindy), Nathan Clay Allen (Denise), and Thalene Wilkes (Todd). Helen has 27 grandchildren and 61 great grandchildren with more to come. Thair died in 1981 and Helen was married to Ray Sterling Lynch in 1988, she then moved to Bountiful, Utah. She has two step children Cyndie Ashworth(Mont) and Jim Lynch(deceased)(Julie), 5 step-grandchildren and 11 step-great grandchildren.
Helen loved to garden and grew many beautiful flowers and vegetables. She was a canner putting up 90 quarts of beans, peaches, pears, apple sauce, grape juice and a number of things each summer that the family ate all winter long. She was a good sport about taking the family camping and instilled in us a love for nature and the great outdoors. We always had to leave the campground cleaner than we found it. She made the best chocolates in the world, loved making things with her sisters, quilting enough quilts that all of her children and grandchildren received at least one and was a great cook. Helen was so excited to be called a Grandma and made life fun for the grandchildren. One tradition she started was making gingerbread houses at Christmas time. Another tradition was getting the family together at Bear Lake on her birthday.
She worked as a switchboard phone operator, S&H Green Stamps Redemption Center, Country Shopper cashier and as a secretary for the South Cache Middle School as well as her main job, homemaker.
Helen was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She was a great bishops wife and served in various positions throughout her life including head of the Providence First and Fourth Ward Turkey Sauerkraut Dinners, a singing mother, a member of the ward choir, a service mission to Hawaii and serving in the Bountiful Temple. Her latest position was in the Primary Nursery.
Survived by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren four sisters, LuJean Toolson(Gene), Alta Burton(Warren). Connie Albretsen(Bruce) and Mary Beth Niederhauser, two brothers Rex Chugg and Mark Chugg (Jolene).
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, four brothers, one sister, and one step son.
Helen was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. She was devoted to her family, friends and the gospel. Despite life’s challenges she went forward with courage. She was a terrific example of hard work and service to us all.
