Helen Milligan

December 14, 1916 — March 10, 2009

Helen Milligan, age 92, died March 10, 2009 in Logan, Utah. She was born December 14, 1916 in Lewiston, Utah to John and Ruby Hancey Milligan. Helen grew up in Lewiston on “sugar factory line” with her brothers, Warren, Jack and Horace (H.J.) and her sister, Donna. Helen attended the local schools. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

In 1939 the Milligan family moved to 314 East 200 South in Logan. Helen helped care for her invalid grandmother, and later, her mother. After her mother’s death in 1955, Helen lived with and assisted her father until his passing in 1964. She remained in the family home, living alone, until March 1992. Since then she has resided at Logan Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Helen used to tend children. She gave special attention to her nieces and nephews: Ron Milligan, Kent Milligan, Marsha Walker, Kathy Conlin, Marilyn Adams, Jean Malouf, Trena McBride, Karla Broeder, Paul Milligan, Mike Sperry, Marcia Sperry and Bob Sperry.

Helen’s specialty was making divinity candy and she loved a good meal. She liked to watch television and care for her pet cats. Helen had many friends and developed close associations with her neighbors. She enjoyed the attention given to her as she got her hair done each week for many years at Beau La Reine.

Helen outlived most of her family, friends and neighbors. She was preceded in death by her three brothers, her sister and two nephews. Helen is survived by twelve nieces and nephews, a few cousins and a sister-in-law.

Services will be held at Noon on Saturday, March 14, 2009, at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center with a viewing one hour prior to the funeral. Interment will be in the Hyde Park Cemetery.
