Helen Marie Hunt Champlin

Helen Marie Hunt Champlin, 80, honored mother, and fun-loving grandmother and great grandmother passed away suddenly at her home in Logan on Tuesday, August 23, 2005. She will be deeply missed by her family and all whose life she touched.
Helen Marie was born in Evanston, Wyo., on February 27, 1925 into the blended family of Charles Hunt and Lillie Fernelius James Hunt.
After graduation from Evanston High School she moved to Logan and earned a bachelor degree in child development from Utah State University. While in school she was a Delta Phi Dream Girl and active in the Lambda Delta Sigma sorority. She fell in love and married Zachary Taylor Champlin in the Logan LDS Temple. Over the ensuing years they were blessed with 10 children, 60 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Zachary preceded her in death on July 5, 1995.
Family was always her focus -love and loyalty to her husband, loving service and example to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Her devotion to her family was intertwined with her long and diligent service, primarily in the Relief Society in the Logan 5th Ward, where she lived for the past 53 years. She was particularly enriched by her service with .her husband as a stake missionary. She served as a volunteer in the Logan LDS Temple Cafeteria for the past 20 years.
She was a spiritual person with an abiding love for her Heavenly Father expressed through word and a lifetime of good deeds.
For years she was as an election judge and was active until her death in the Daughters of Utah Pioneers.
Her hobbies were many, including singing in the choir, quilting, embroidering, crocheting, and watching basketball. One of her astonishing accomplishments was that over the years she made a quilt for each of her children and grandchildren. She delighted in surprising her grandchildren on holidays with a funny hat or mask and was generous with her means.
The hallmark of her strength and devotion to her family was her loving care of her husband Zachary in their home during his five-year struggle with Alzheimer's Disease.
Those Helen Marie left behind and who are beneficiaries of her legacy of love include her 10 children: Cathy (Stuart) Nelson of Rexburg, ID., Craig (Jane) Champlin of Hyde Park, Nancy (Don) Bolton and Lynell (Cordell) Batt of North Logan, Jeffrey (Linda) Champlin of Smithfield, Terry (Kim) Moss of Kalispell, MT., David (Mary) Champlin of Layton, UT., Paul (Lori) Champlin and Beth (David) Archilbald of Logan and Kim (Jedd) Jones of Boise, ID.; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, her brother, Louis (Sally) Hunt of Blackfoot, ID., and her sister Delma Howe of Worland, WY.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, August 29, at noon at the Logan 5th-18th Ward chapel located at 502 East 300 North, Logan, with Bishop Keith Gardner officiating. Friends may call on Sunday from 6 pm to 8 pm at the Allen Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center, Logan, or at 10:30 am to 11:30 am prior to the service on Monday at the Logan 5th-18th Ward building.
