Herman Johnson

May 21, 1925 — April 21, 2010

LOGAN, UTAH - Herman Glenn Johnson was born on May 21, 1925. He was born in Logan, UT to Herman B. and Coral T. Johnson. He was a member of the LDS church, and attended Logan Schools and Utah Agriculture College. He served in World War 2 with the third Marine division. He participated in the invasion of Guam and patrolling of Guam, Marianas, and Iwo Jima Volcano Islands. He graduated from ROTC as a 1st Lieutenant serving with an Army Security Agency in the Military District of Washington D.C. He was a member of the D.A.V.

He spent many years in the food service owning and operating many establishments; some with his brother Leigh and his son DeLoy. Those were great days and Old Timer's might remember 'Herman's Inn', still standing on Canyon Road, 'Herm's Grill' on West Center, 'Mellow Dee Ranch', 'Herm's Supper Club', specializing in steaks and sea foods, and 'The Malibu Lodge' with partner, Leigh, his brother, a great place for fun, food and dancing to Glen Miller, located five miles up Logan Canyon.

He loved the canyon and timber, forming his own timber cutting and falling company with his son DeLoy.

He was employed at Hill AFB, retiring in 1991; receiving three sustained superior performance awards and four letters of appreciation during his employment.

His greatest pleasure was being with his children and grandchildren and laughing and joking with his brothers and sister.

He is survived by his five children: Herman DeLoy Johnson, Deborah Lee Johnson, LaDawn Kissler (Jeff), Sandra Rue (Tracy) Candace Jensen (Kevin); his brothers Leigh (West Valley), DeLoy (wife Arlene; Brigham City), 13 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Preceded in death: Parents, sister Dorothy Nielsen.
