Homer Leishman, age 77, passed away peacefully at his
home in College Ward on March 7,2006. Homer was born
October 21, 1928, in Wellsville, Utah. He was the
oldest son of Leroy and Gretta Maughan Leishman. Homer
married his sweetheart, Hazel Olsen, on December 27,
1950, in the Logan Temple and they have been together
for 55 years.
Homer graduated from South Cache and then went onto
Utah State University and received a Bachelor's degree
in agriculture. Through the ROTC, he became an officer
in the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War. After
28 years in the active Reserves, he retired at the
rank of Colonel. After the Army, he went to work on
the farm for Hazel's father, Edward Olsen, and later
Homer and Hazel bought the farm and worked many years
together. He enjoyed many hunting and fishing trips
with his family.
Homer was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter Day Saints and served wherever he was asked. He
served as a Temple Officiator in the Logan Temple for
six years. For many years he worked with the boys in
the ward as their coach for softball and basketball.
Homer is survived by his sweetheart, Hazel, and three
sons and one daughter, Kim (Candace), Matt, Paul (Gay)
all of College Ward, and Taunya Roberts of Hyrum; 13
grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He is also
survived by a brother, Lavell (Connie), and two
sisters, Joyce (Cecil) Payne and Faye Orr.
Hazel would like to express her love and appreciation
to CNS Services and to the angels, Gina, Julie, and
Marilyn, who came to help take care of Homer.
Funeral services will be at noon on Monday, March 13,
at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center, Logan. A
viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, March
12, at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center Street,
Logan and one hour prior to the funeral service on
Monday. Interment will be in the Logan Cemetery.
