Howard Dale Rasmussen

June 13, 1924 — June 7, 2017

Howard Dale Rasmussen, 92, died Tuesday, June 7, 2017 in Logan, Utah. He was born June 13, 1924 in Brigham City, Utah to John and Lula Dora Rasmussen and was raised in Mantua, Utah with his brother, Chet, and sister, Barbara. He enjoyed a very happy childhood, spending hours in the hills around Mantua, hiking, hunting, and fishing. He passed his love of outdoors on to his children and grandchildren.
Dale was part of the greatest generation, serving in WWII for 3 years in the Army Air Corps as a radio operator on B-24s and B-17s. Following his military service, he returned home where he met the love of his life, Barbara Jeanne Housley. They were married on June 4, 1948 in the Logan LDS Temple and were devoted to one another for more than 69 years. He graduated from Utah State University and taught school in Box Elder County before he and Barbara settled their family in Logan, Utah where he was a professor at USU.
He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in the Logan Temple for 31 years. He especially cherished his calling as a Sealer and the friendships made there. Dale was happiest spending time with family, being outdoors, and farming in Mantua. He was a kind and selfless person, and his gentle nature blessed the lives of all who knew him. He was a wonderful husband and the greatest dad in the world. He will be missed immeasurably.
Dale is survived by his wife, Barbara; two daughters, Pat Felt of Smithfield, UT; DeAnn (Trent) Sooter of Fairview, ID; one son, Kelly (Kristy) Rasmussen of Mendon, UT; seven grandsons, and fourteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings.
Funeral services will be held at Noon on Monday, June 12, 2017 at the Hillcrest 2nd Ward Chapel, 875 North 1500 East, Logan. A viewing will be held prior to the funeral from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Logan City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.allenmortuaries.net
