Ilah Kristine Broberg Renner, age 95, passed away
January 1,2007 of natural causes.
Ilah was born August 20, 1911 in Logan, the fourth of
seven children to John C. and Ragnhild Broberg. She
was educated in Logan City schools and graduated in
1932 from Utah State Agricultural College with a
'normal' degree in education. It only took one year of
teaching grades 1 through 8 in a one room school house
in Hanna, Utah for her to decide to go back to the
university and complete her teaching degree. She
graduated in 1935 and began a 20 year career of
teaching in Paradise and Wellsville.
December 27, 1939 Ilah married Lorin "Shorty" Renner
of Providence and until Lorin's death in 1958, they
lived in Wyoming. Ilah was an active member of the
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints serving in
many callings. She served on stake boards of Primary
and Young Women, but her great joy was always singing
and conducting music.
While Ilah was in college, she was asked to be a
charter member of the Bel Canto Chorus. She sang with
them for about 30 years and loved every minute of it.
The day before she passed away she was singing "You
are My Sunshine" to all who would listen.
We cannot express enough appreciation for the
attentive women and men at Logan Nursing and
Rehabilitation Center. Their gentle care of Ilah was
loving and respectful and will be long remembered.
She is survived by her son, Douglas of Wellsville, and
daughter, Janet (Randy) Simmons of Providence. She has
five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Friday,
January 5, at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 E. Center Street in Logan. A viewing for family and friends will
be held 10:30 to 11 :30 a.m. Following the services
she will be laid to rest in the Providence Cemetery.
