LOGAN--- Ingrid Andersen Sorenson, 97, passed away Nov. 29, 2012. She and her twin brother, Ingar, were born Oct. 31, 1915 in Preston, Idaho to Bernhard Adolph and Nielsine Christine Nielsen Andersen. She had two older brothers, Niels and Adolph. She attended school in Ogden, Utah graduating from Ogden High School, class of 1934.
Ingrid married R. Earl Sorenson on April 16, 1941, in the Salt Lake Temple. They were blessed with two daughters, Ingrid (deceased), Karen, and three sons, Robert , Richard, and Mark.
Ingrid was preceded in death by her husband and eternal companion, Earl, her daughter Ingrid, her brothers and their wives, and a great grand child, Ashlynn.
She has always been a devoted member of the LDS Church, and as a young woman, served a mission to Denmark with her twin brother, Ingar.
Ingrid, who was very competitive and athletic, played women’s professional basketball for the Texaco All Stars, traveling the nation. She also enjoyed skiing, ice-skating, boating, water-skiing, and was a crack shot with a rifle. Ingrid and Earl enjoyed all types of dancing and belonged to several ballroom and square dance groups. She even continued having fun dancing with many of the Sunshine Terrace nursing staff as they helped her move through her daily routines. She was always competitive in her activities, and loved a good challenge. Winning was her nature.
Ingrid and Earl spent their early family years ranching with Earl’s father in Pegram, Idaho, and then farming in Lewiston, Utah. They loved the land, raising crops, cattle, and dairy cows. Following the sale of the Lewiston dairy farm, they moved their growing family to Twin Falls, Idaho. Soon after their move, Ingrid and Earl were called to preside over the Danish LDS Mission. Next to the love of her family, Ingrid often called her Danish Mission service one of the highlights of her life. She loved her Danish heritage, the people of Denmark, and those wonderful missionaries with whom she served. Later, she and Earl served a temple mission in Sweden. She has remained active, faithful, and true to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout her entire life.
Ingrid was very passionate about life and was loved by everyone who came to know her. Even later in life, Ingrid’s family, friends, neighbors, nursing staff, and missionaries, often made a special effort to visit and be with her.
Ingrid is survived by her children; Robert (Marcia), Karen (Brian) Layton, Richard (Jackie), Mark (Katherine), 17 grandchildren, and 53 great grand children.
