PROVIDENCE - Irene Anderson Groll, 95, passed away peacefully in her sleep in the Cache Valley Assisted Living and Memory Care facility on November 15, 2010. She was there for two years after her daughter, Elaine, passed away in September 2008. On March 19, 2010 her daughter, Nancy, who lived in California, died from cancer. She has one living son, Clinton C. Groll who lives in Providence, Utah with his wife, Bonnie. Irene had seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren who loved her dearly. She has been a widow for 31 years since her husband "Chris" died in 1979. She married her husband December 10, 1935.
She was born March 17, 1915 in Hyrum, Utah to Hiram Anderson and Rachel Standley. She worked hard on the family farm with her two brothers and seven sisters. She graduated from South Cache High School and worked as a waitress and as a school lunch lady in the Providence and River Heights Elementary Schools. She was famous for "Groll Rolls". She is survived by three sisters: Faye Brenchley, Veda Coley, and Verda Coley.
Irene was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ and Latter-Day Saints and served many years teaching in the auxiliary organizations. She volunteered for the American Heritage Farm and the LDS Distribution Center.
Funeral services will be Saturday, November 20, 2010 at 10:00 am at the Allen-Hall Mortuary conducted by Bishop Kevin Jensen of the Providence Eighth Ward. There will also be a viewing Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 Center Street, Logan, Utah and on Saturday from 9:00 to 9:45 am prior to the funeral services.
