Iris Olsen Andrews

April 28, 1928 — June 8, 2022

Iris Bee Olsen Andrews, 94, departed peacefully from her earthly home in Logan, UT on June 8th to greet her loving husband Joe, her son Brent, and her parents Hilary and Ruby Olsen.
Iris was born April 28, 1928 in Hyrum, UT. She was the 6th of 12 children born to Hilary and Ruby Olsen. Iris married Joe Andrews on June 24, 1951. They were later sealed together in the Logan temple.
During her early years she was an accomplished softball player and continued participating in sports like golf and bowling well into her 80’s. She could often be found watching her favorite sports on TV especially the Utah teams she loved, including the Jazz. Iris was a fierce competitor whenever a card game of Scrooge or Hand and Foot broke out. Her speed and agility when playing these games will forever be remembered. She often started her morning with a crossword puzzle or sudoku. She loved the challenge of piecing together many a beautiful jigsaw puzzle. Iris devoted many hours to lovingly make a quilt for each of her 13 grandchildren. She worked hard for various companies during her lifetime including Mode O’ Day, the IRS and Herff Jones.
Iris faithfully served in many callings as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She lived for 46 years on Thrushood Drive attending the 8th Ward before moving 5 years ago. Reading and studying the gospel of Jesus Christ from the library of books she collected was something she also enjoyed.
Iris was a strong, classy, independent woman who will forever be an inspiration to her surviving sister Sondra Alvis; brother Paul Olsen; children: Sherry Broadbent, Kevin (Tina), Blake (Marilyn), and Lori (Todd Craghead) as well as her 13 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. Iris was preceded in death by her husband Joseph E Andrews, her son Joseph Brent Andrews, her parents Hilary and Ruby Olsen as well as brothers and sisters Wayne, Merle, Afton, Vern, Ilene, Marian, Marva, Gaylon, and Faye.
A viewing will be held on Monday June 13th from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m at the Allen-Hall Mortuary located at 34 E Center Street in Logan. Graveside services will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the Logan City Cemetery.
The family would like to thank all of the caregivers at Terrace Grove as well as Sunshine Home Health and Hospice for their loving kindness and compassion toward Iris.
