Iris McConkie Morrill, 83, beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend passed away surrounded by family Friday, August 31,2007. Born January 6, 1924 in Vernal, Utah to M. Dewey and Thora Harvey McConkie. Married Shardon Hugh Morrill February 23, 1943 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Shardon died November 12, 1993.
Iris Graduated from Alterra High School in 1941 and from LDS Business College in 1942. She worked briefly as a secretary/stenographer for the Public Welfare Office and later the County Clerk's office in Vernal. Throughout her life she performed with singing groups and accompanied vocal numbers and local dances.
The family moved from their Uintah Basin farm to Cache Valley in 1954 where Shardon continued his schooling. He taught school and they resided in North Logan until the fall of 1967, when their new home in Young Ward was finished.
Iris was a dedicated member of the LDS Church and served mostly in the Relief Society and Primary. She worked for years compiling, writing, and preserving family histories. She was a devoted mother and homemaker. She had a great love for all children, especially her own children and grandchildren.
Survived by: children Kent A. (Lisbeth) Morrill, Susan (Lynn) Lundstrom ,Elaine (Robert) Pate, Janet Morrill, Howard C. (Evelynda) Morrill, Sharon McDaniel, June (Kim) Krebs, Diane Morrill, Todd D. (Angela) Morrill; sisters Carol M. Betts and MaryAnn Murphy; 43 Grandchildren and 26 Great-Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; two infant children, Marvin M. and Christineand her son, Rex D. and an infant granddaughter Jayci; her parents and brothers; George D., Bruce H. and Charles M. McConkie; sister Beth M. Gunderson.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 5, 2007 at the College-Young Ward Chapel. Friends may call at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 E. Center, Logan, on Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and prior to services on Wednesday at the church from 9:30 to 10:30 AM. Interment will be in the Tridell Cemetery.
