Ivaloo Smith Hiibner

March 17, 1919 — April 24, 2015

Ivaloo Smith Hiibner of Mendon, Ut. passed away April 24, 2015 at the age of 96.
She was born to Nelton and Gladys Chugg Smith on March 17, 1919 (St. Patrick’s Day). It was always tradition that she had corned beef and cabbage on her birthday.
She married Glenn G. Hiibner on Oct. 8, 1947. They lived most of their married life in Mendon. They were blessed with 3 children. Jeff, Scott and Karen, 11 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
She attended schools in Hyrum, Ut. and then moved to San Francisco, Ca. to study to become a beauty operator. While there, on a whim, she decided to join the Women’s Army Corps. She proudly served in the military during World War II from 1942-1945 as a recon driver. Her working career ranged from homemaker, beauty operator, salesclerk, and cook. She retired as head cook from Logan Regional hospital after 24 years. She will be remembered for her kind and gentle ways and no one leaving her home hungry.
She was active in the LDS church with most of her callings in Primary and Mutual. One of her fondest memories is when she and a few others started the Mendon Pioneer 24th celebration. The budget could only afford 7 fireworks that year.
Ivaloo is survived by her husband Glenn; two children, Jeff (Nita) Hiibner, Karen (Bob) DeGasser, brother Homer (Connie) Smith, brother-in-law Deon Kingsford, sister-in-law Shiela Smith , 10 grandchildren, and 30 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son Scott Hiibner, grandson Matthew Hiibner, brothers; Ariel, Bill, Stratt, Jack and Bob, sisters; Cleo, Rula and Joann.
Funeral services will be at noon, Friday, May 1, 2015 in the Mendon Stake Center, 460 S. 100 East. Friends may call from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Thursday, April 30 at Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 E.
