Iva Nielsen Hansen
On December 3, 2011, a great lady and daughter of God died peacefully in her sleep. Iva was 92 years of age.
Iva was born January 20, 1919 in Hyde Park, Cache County, Utah to Adam Nielsen and Birgetta Kathrine Jensen, who were from Denmark. Preceded in death by her parents, two sisters Edith and Lila, and three brothers, Vincent, Alfred, and Glen. Also preceded in death by her loving husband John and daughter Betty Lou. Survived by her two daughters Sharon Kay Hansen Fish (Leon) and Judy Lee Hansen Hansen (Gary).
Iva married John Hansen on April 23, 1937 in Farmington, Utah. They were later sealed for time and all eternity in the Ogden Temple on June 16, 1978. Their first home was just across the street from Willow Park in Logan. John was a farmer at that time. Later after the birth of their 3 daughters, Sharon, Betty Lou, and Judy, they moved to River Heights, where they spent many happy years together.
Iva worked for the Mode O Day dress factory for thirty-five years and then for The American Apparel. Iva and John were called to work in the Logan Temple and after John’s death in 1980, Iva continued to fulfill her calling. Iva has left a legacy for her family of love, and service to others. The world has been a better place because of her. She enjoyed cooking, working in her yard, flowers, and visiting with friends and neighbors.
In her later years she was always so happy when family or Home Teachers, Brother Krause, would come to visit. Everyone was so kind and helped her with her needs. She loved Family History and attending the Temple. She also loved Utah Jazz Basketball games. She has greatly blessed the lives of her family and has left quite a legacy with 10 Grandchildren, 33 Great Grandchildren, and 31 Great-Great Grandchildren. She passed away peacefully at her Daughter Judy’s home in Idaho.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, December 8, 2011 from Noon – 1:00 PM at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center Street in Logan, Utah, followed by a short service at the mortuary. Interment will be in the in the Logan City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests that a donation to your favorite charity be made in her name.
