LOGAN, UTAH: J. David Bowen, 80, of Logan died on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at his home in St. George, Utah surrounded by his loving family after a brave eight year battle with Lewy Body Dementia.
Dave was born on December 21, 1937 in Logan, Utah a son of Jonathan Raymond “Jack” and Marjorie Quinney Bowen. He married LaRae Jessop on December 3, 1955. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Temple.
Dave attended Logan City Schools and graduated from Logan High School in 1956. Following graduation he and LaRae began their life and young family together. Dave then joined forces with his father, Jack, and grew Jack’s Tire and Oil into what it is today with multiple locations around the west with over 250 employees.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and respected the value it was and is in the lives of his family and posterity. Dave had a loving testimony of prayer and valued it in his life in good times and in trials. He taught his family the importance of tithing and giving and he and LaRae were shining examples of charity.
Dave and LaRae enjoyed golfing and were members of the Logan Golf and Country Club where he served as President. Golfing has been a part of Dave’s life since he was a young man even winning the title of Northern Utah Amateur. His children and grandchildren all learned to golf and he loved spending time with his family in this sport.
He loved spending time at his cabin in Alpine, Wyoming with his family, a place where his children and grandchildren created many life long memories and learned the value of family, work and fun. He and LaRae traveled around the world enjoying their relationships they had made with other tire dealers.
He is survived by his wife, LaRae, four children and their spouses, Rodney and Toky Bowen, Leslie and Gary Humphries; Cory and Bobbie Bowen, Lisa and Jason Allen, two sisters, Kathryn Jean Williams, Jacque and Bruce Shields, 19 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren, five step-grandchildren and 17 step-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Beau Bowen.
Special thanks to his caregivers, Ailini Pauni and Estia Pauni who have compassionately served him for the past four years.
