BENSON – J. Wayne Watterson “Red Eye”, 76, passed away on March 11, 2015 with his wife and family by his side. He attended Benson School, Smithfield Jr. High, and graduated from North Cache High School in Richmond, Utah.
He helped on his father’s farm driving big equipment beginning at age 6. That was the start of his two passions – driving and farming. He drove truck for several companies including his own and he retired from Jack’s Tire and Oil after more than 35 years of service. Every moment that he wasn’t in a truck he was on his farm. He was a talented and dedicated farmer and he was well known and respected for the quality of his fields and crops.
Wayne was married to LaDean Moosman. They had two children, Jed Wayne (deceased) and Jill Taylor. They were later divorced.
He married Tanya Wettstein on December 17, 1971. They were the parents of five children: Martha Ann Marriott (Patric Craghead), Jennifer Watterson (Shane), Caroline Christensen (Corbin), Jared Watterson (Laurie) and Susan Meacham (Jacob) and 25 grandchildren.
An avid outdoorsman, Wayne’s best times were spent with his friends and family hunting, fishing or just driving the mountain roads. One of his favorite memories was a fishing trip to Canada with life-long friends. Even in his last few months you could set your clock by his daily morning trip around northern Cache Valley.

He was preceded in death by his son, Jed, his parents, Kate and Moni and his sisters Janet Nielson and Mona Schenavar.
