“Family is not an important thing. It’s everything”. -MICHEAL J. FOX
Our loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend Jacqueline (Jackie) Birch Clark, 67, of Hyde Park, passed away in her home surrounded by her family on Monday, January 20th. Jackie was born in Idaho Falls in 1957 to Rex Birch and Ann Birch. Jackie enjoyed growing up with her 7 siblings on the family farm. She met the love of her life, Curtis Glen Clark in 1978, the two were married March 23, of 1979 in the Ogden Utah Temple. Jackie and Curtis couldn’t wait to start a family of their own, and their children meant the world to them. They had six children Mandy, Amy, Emily, Casey, Dustin, and McKenzie. They considered their children’s spouses as additional children of their own.
Though she loved being a wife and a mother. Jackie’s favorite role was that of a grandmother. She treasured her time with her grandkids and loved being Grandma Jackie to all of her grandchildren, never failing to remember and celebrate a birthday or show up and support at sports games, plays, recitals, cow and horse shows, concerts, wrestling meets, and rodeos. Jackie was always so involved with her grandchildren and you would often find her playing on the floor, reading together, or teaching life skills in the kitchen, sewing room, and garden.
Jackie was passionate about her role as Program Technician at the USDA’s Farm Service Agency. Working for the company for 31 years. Through her professional career, Jackie made lifelong relationships with her co-workers and many farmers within the valley.
Everyone who knew Jackie, knew how much she loved gardening, sewing, and quilting. Jackie made it her mission to ensure a quilt was made for every grandchild. Even in sickness, with the help of her family, she designed, directed and gave her stamp of approval for each and every quilt.
Jackie was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, devoting her time and energy to all of her callings, though her favorites were always in primary with the last one being in nursery. Jackie spent many years as the Relief Society President in her ward in Hyde Park. Additionally, she spent countless hours of service in the temple and towards others. Jackie always had a strong testimony she shared freely with others. She has enjoyed the peace in the knowledge that her eternal family is forever.
Jackie will always be remembered as the strong matriarch of her family, her kindness and how she went out of her way to make everyone feel special, loved, and included. There was no task too big or too small and she always kept everything in line. We couldn’t have asked for a better wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Her memory will live on in those who loved her.
Jackie was preceded in death by her mother Ann Birch, father Rex Birch, sister Janel Jenkins, sister Debra Zufelt, brother Bret Birch, mother and father-in-law Vern and Carol Clark, and sister-in-law Karen Stone. She is survived by husband Curtis Clark; siblings Michelle (Val) Anderson, Robin (Phil) Bankhead, Lisa (Jay) Christensen, Patty (Mark) Bingham, brothers in law Chad Jenkins and Jim Zufelt; Children Mandy (Brian) Gibbons, Amy (Daniel) Buttars, Emily (Mike) Anderson, Casey (Lacie) Clark, Dustin (Amanda) Clark, McKenzie (Kooper) Conway and her 18 grandchildren.
A special thanks to Natalya and Liz, with IHC Hospice, for their knowledge and support during this life transition. Additionally, a thanks to all our children for helping to care for their mother.
