James Reed Brower 92 passed away March 17, 2023, in Smithfield, Utah. Reed was born January 12,1931, in Grantsville Utah, to James Edwin Brower and Myrtle Esther Dansie.
He graduated from Mountain View Wyoming High School in 1949.
Reed served 2 years in the US Army, spending the majority of the time in Anchorage, Alaska.
He married Flora Mae Weyerman July 27,1951 in the Logan Utah Temple.
Reed went to Utah State University in Logan, Utah and graduated with a degree in accounting.
He worked as an accountant for Turner Lumber in Heber, Utah. Later he moved back to Logan and worked as a mechanic for Sears until Sears closed. Then he went to work for an auto shop as a mechanic until he retired.
Reed and Mae adopted four children - Brent, Kristy, Jeffrey, and Vicky.
Reed was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He served as financial clerk for many years.
Reed lost his wife Mae to cancer on September 18, 1982.
Reed married Alice Clough Soule in the Logan Temple on June 4,1983.
Later Reed adopted five of Alice's 10 children.
Reed is survived by his wife, Alice of Logan, Utah, son Brent of Arizona, two daughters, Kristy (Kevin) Jones of Texas, Vicky (Tim) Porter of Utah, Alice's 5 children adopted by Reed, David (Susan) Soule, Lucinda (Brad) Hansen, Suzanne Hoggan, Larry (Aubrey) Soule, Christopher James Brower, 49 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren, one brother George Russell Brower of Anacortes, Washington and one sister, Mary E. Cook of Lyman, Wyoming. And many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mae, one son Jeffrey, his parents, 3 brothers, Edwin Leslie Brower, Francis Eugene Brower, and Frank Deloss Brower.
There will be a military honors and grave dedication at the Logan Cemetery on Thursday, March 23, 2023, at 1:00 pm.
