James Edwin Mitton, 68 of Wellsville, passed away April 8 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Salt Lake City. He was born March 12, 1951 in Logan, Utah to Allan and Maxine Mitton. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Von Allen and Terry. He is survived by his brother Bernard. James grew up in Wellsville, and graduated from Sky View High School. James enlisted in the u.s. Army, serving two tours of duty in Vietnarn. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Sargent. James later went to Alaska to work in the oil fields where he drove a Kenworth C500 truck as well as other duties. After returning to Wellsville he married Vicky Jensen and did some farming there and in Saint George. They were later divorced. After that Jimmy lived off the grid on the family farm with his loyal dog Fuzzy. Jimmy enjoyed life the best he could in his later years, traveling on occasion to the nearby western states and to California twice. He was a private man and never complained about the trials and hardships he had faced in his life. He will be missed.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 15th at the Wellsville City Cemetery. A viewing will be held Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Allen-Hall Mortuary (34 E. Center St. in Logan). Condolences and thoughts may be expressed online at
