James Lynn Spindler

November 12, 1958 — June 17, 2016

NIBLEY—James (Jim) Lynn Spindler, 57, born November 12th, 1958 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to James Lynn and Jacqueline Shirley Mickelson Spindler, passed away at his home in Nibley, Utah on June 17th, 2016.
Jim graduated from Logan High School and attended Utah State University where he studied engineering. He had an accomplished career in the construction industry. As a third generation builder, Jim began working as a teenager for the family business, Spindler Construction (formerly Mickelson Construction), of Logan, Utah. He learned the business by doing carpentry, cement, and operating complex construction equipment. He progressed through the ranks to become a project supervisor, construction manager, and managing partner until his retirement in 2014. Jim took great pride in the buildings he helped construct throughout the Intermountain West including projects at Hill Air Force Base, Thiokol and Utah State University.
Jim married Lori Bowcutt in 1992. They were blessed with two beautiful daughters, Ashlee and Jacque. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints.
An avid motor enthusiast, Jim was a pilot and loved to fly, rode dirt bikes and motorcycles, built and worked on Jeeps, rock crawlers, and a plane, and enjoyed fast boats and fast cars. He loved hunting and camping and time spent in the back country.
He also loved to travel and spent time in Belize and Island Park fly fishing, cruising in the Bahamas, swimming with dolphins in Tortola, British Virgin Islands, Jeeping in Moab, rock crawling at Imogene Pass, Colorado, and boating at Lake Powell. He loved time spent with his family in his travels and is well remembered for his love of rollercoasters, especially those found at Disneyland, California Adventure.
Jim will be remembered as fun, kind- hearted and loving. He had a sparkle in his eyes and brought energy to a room. As a private person, he cherished time alone, often spent in his home workshop. He most valued time spent with his family and his dogs. He loved his girls dearly.
Jim is survived by daughters, Ashlee of Provo and Jacque of Logan; father, James (Lynn) Spindler of Logan; sister Janet (Gary) Stevens of Logan; sister Kristine (Carey) Gunnell of Smithfield; brother Mike (Pam) Spindler of Wellsville; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Jackie, and his nephew, Shane Gunnell.
We will miss him, but know he is having a happy reunion with his mother, nephew, grandparents and dogs.
