Logan- Letty Jane Rasmussen Broberg, 90, passed away peacefully Sunday, November 27, 2011.
Jane was born January 20, 1921, in Twin Falls, Idaho, to Letty Turner Rasmussen Cardon and Lewis Rasmussen. She was the youngest of two daughters and was raised in beautiful Cache Valley. Jane attended Logan High School and Utah State University. She married the love of her life, John Henry Broberg, in the Logan Temple on October 10, 1941. John and Jane enjoyed 62 years together. Theirs was truly a committed and endless love story. John lovingly referred to Jane as his “Snowdrift.”
Jane and John started their life together in Fort Hood, Texas and then moved to St. Anthony, Idaho before finally settling in their beloved Cache Valley. Both of their children, Thomas and Julie, were born and raised in the Logan area. John and Jane loved the time they spent together in Logan Canyon. Their cabin was a gathering place for family and friends.
Jane was actively involved in many social, community and church affairs. She enjoyed her membership in the Daughters of Utah Pioneers where she worked as a docent for many years. Her service was recognized in 2002 by the USU Women’s Center when she was presented the “Legacy Achievement Award”. Jane loved playing cards, especially Bridge and Canasta. When it was Jane’s turn to host the Bridge Club, the house always received a scrub-down, new furniture, and occasionally a fresh coat of paint. One of Jane’s favorite activities was her annual Bear Lake trip with the girls, where they would stay up until all hours talking and playing cards. Jane looked forward to frequent shopping sprees. Her husband, John, always joked about opening the closet and having a new pair of shoes hit him in the head. Whether whipping up a delicious meal for her family, or making a meal for someone in need, Jane’s kitchen was always hopping. Family was Jane’s top priority. Her love and support of her husband, children and grandchildren were constant and sustaining. She was proud of her posterity and celebrated her loved ones’ unique qualities and achievements. We will miss Jane’s spunkiness, style, and entertaining renditions of “Show Me the Way to Go Home”.
Jane is survived by her son, Thomas, and wife, LaDawn, of North Salt Lake City, UT; daughter, Julie, and husband, Paul, of Roy, UT; eight grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, John, her son, Carl Jed, her parents, and her sister, Grace.
A special thank-you to Jane’s caregivers, Losaline and Maliu Vave, their family, and Dr. Michael Stones for the loving and devoted care they have provided.

She wanted to remind everyone to keep a PMA (Positive Mental Attitude) and to TTT (Take the Time). A verse from one of Jane’s favorite songs: “…where ever I may roam, on land, or sea, or foam. You can always hear me singing this song… show me the way to go home.” Condolences and memories may be shared with the family at
