Jane Preece

February 6, 1934 — May 26, 2016

Jane Marie Edgemon Preece, 82, of Hyde Park, Utah, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, passed away on Thursday, May 26, 2016, surrounded by her family.
Jane was born in Portsmouth, New Hampshire on February 6, 1934 to Arch Paul Edgemon and Ethel Ruth O’Sullivan. She was the second of five children. Jane’s father was a Navy man and the family traveled throughout the United States during his naval career. After her father’s retirement from the Navy, they settled in Parma, Idaho. She graduated from Parma High School.
In 1951 Jane met Carl Miller Preece Sr. and on August 4th that same year, they were married. Last year mom and dad celebrated their 64th anniversary. Carl joined the Navy soon after they were married and they spent the next 20 years traveling. During that time, 6 children were born, Carl Jr., Debbie, Mike, David, Cindy, and Chris. After retiring from the Navy, they settled in Lewiston, Utah. After her children were all in school, Jane began volunteering at the Lewiston City Library. She loved to read and volunteering there gave her great joy. Jane also began volunteering at the Logan Hospital. She spent many years volunteering there until she was hired to work in Central Processing department. Her career with Logan Regional Hospital gave her opportunities to learn new things and progress through several jobs there. She retired after 25 years of service. After her retirement, she spent a year working with Dad as a camp host in Logan Canyon. She enjoyed the time she was able to spend with Dad and loved meeting new people from all over the world. Jane moved to her final home in Hyde Park, Utah in April of 2005.
One of the best things in Jane’s life was her 15 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and the newest member of her family…her great-great grandchild. She loved spending time with them on family vacations, Sunday dinners, camping in the canyon and especially during the annual Christmas Eve party. Time with her family was her favorite activity as well as her greatest joy.
Jane is survived by her husband, Carl Miller Preece Sr., her children, Carl (Mary Ann) Preece Jr., Debbie (Blaine) Scott, Mike (Sue) Preece, Dave (Dina) Preece, Cindy Preece and Chris Preece.
