February 7, 1914 — February 28, 2006

Jane Ann Hackard
PROVIDENCE, UTAH : Our beloved Mother, Grandmother and friend passed away on Feb. 28, 2006, at the Legacy House of Logan. She was 92 years old.
Born in New York City in 1914, to Oliver W. Petty and Jane Anna Akerstrom, she was the oldest of two girls. She especially loved her family and enjoyed the wonderful times they shared through the years. She marveled at new technology and often said, “The world sure has changed during my lifetime.”
She met her sweetheart Arch McKinnon Benson, of Fielding, Utah at a dance in Washington, DC shortly before he left for England during World War II. They were married not long after his return and had two children, John and Dorothy. Arch continued to serve in the Army for many years and they moved around the country, living in different places. Arch died suddenly in 1970. After his death, she married Henry (Hank) Hackard. Hank died in 1990.
She is survived by her son, John O. (Lisa) Benson of Raleigh, NC, and a son-in-law, John D. Sites of Alpharetta, Georgia; grandchildren, John (Skipper), Jeff, Arch, Jarod and Amy (Bynum) Sites and Ellyn Jane (Dubberly) Benson. Together with her 12 great-grandchildren we will miss her very much. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arch; sister Dorothy O. Wagner; daughter Dorothy J. Sites; a great grandson, Brayden J. Sites; and her mother and father. We know in our hearts that they are having a joyous reunion!
A graveside service will be held by the family at a later date. A short memorial service will be held with her friends at the Legacy House of Logan. Interment will be in the Woodlawn Memorial Park, Joliet, Illinois where she will join our beloved Father and Grandfather. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff and residents of the Legacy House for their loving care and friendship. We would also like to thank Dr. Hyldahl for his thoughtful, genuine and tender care.
Arrangements are under the direction of Allen-Hall Mortuary. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.allenmortuaries.net
