Jane Ann Packham Hunter July 19, 1935 - August 24, 2008

Jane Ann Packham Hunter passed away suddenly on August 24, 2008. She was born July 19, 1935 in Pocatello, Idaho to Howard and Delmar Walton Packham. She was the second of five children, and the eldest daughter. Jane Ann attended Blackfoot High School and graduated in 1953. She later attended BYU and was a member of the BYU Madrigal Singers. It was there that she met the love her life, William Edward (Ted) Hunter. Jane Ann and Ted were sealed for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls Temple on August 3, 1955. Dad thought she was the most beautiful and talented girl in the world. That never changed. Together they raised four children who also adored her.

Jane Ann was an exceptionally gifted singer and actress. She played many roles on the stage and on television. She was a Champagne Lady for the Lawrence Welk Show as well as "Anna" in The King and I, with Dad playing the King, "Ellie" in Show Boat, "Maria" in The Sound of Music, "Eliza Doolittle" in My Fair Lady, and "Aldonza" in Man of La Mancha with Robert Peterson. Music and singing touched everything in her life. She loved performing for all kinds of groups and was always in demand.

Mom was also a wonderful cook, homemaker and hostess. Everything she did had an extra touch of elegance and sophistication. Mom especially enjoyed setting a beautiful dinner table and having her family and friends enjoy one of her delicious meals. She was also an avid reader and her extensive library was a great source of joy to her. Mom loved writing letters and wrote with a beautiful hand.

Mom was also devoted to the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ and served in countless capacities in the Church, mostly involving music. She was Choir Director, Ward Organist and Music Chairman in every ward she lived in. She was also a gifted and spiritual teacher and auxiliary leader, and loved the people with whom she served.

Jane Ann was preceded in death by her parents, but is survived by her loving husband, Ted and her children: Kathryn (Cameron) Brister, Christopher (Sandi), David (Cheryl), and Greg (Becki Jo) Hunter. She also leaves 15 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. They all loved and will sorely miss their Nana. She is also survived by her brothers Richard (Janet), Dean (Ieda), Michael (Joanne) Packham, and sister Susan (Richard) Stoddard.
