Janell Fowers
1963-2016
Janell Fowers passed away April 12, 2016 peacefully at her home in North Logan at the age of 53. She was born on March 28, 1963 to James Dee and Joyce Nelson Fowers at Community Memorial Hospital, Ventura, California. At one year of age, Janell was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder called Williams Syndrome. This condition created numerous challenges, some of which consisted of aggressive treatment of scoliosis from age 10 to 16 and open heart surgery at age 15. Though she grew to the age of an adult, she never grew beyond the cognitive abilities of a young child. Her tender, meek and loving natures were defining characteristics of her life, and as the oldest of four children, Janell was a shining example of these attributes to her siblings. Janell’s ability to make friends wherever she went was one of her greatest qualities. If you smiled at Janell, she was your friend for life.
Although she faced numerous difficulties from her condition, Janell graduated from the special education program of Buena High School in 1984.
When the family moved to Logan in 1991, Janell was quick to “network” and make friends. She was always eager to listen to another’s troubles with empathy coming easily for her. She regularly attended meetings in the LDS church, and participated to the best of her abilities. In her later years she particularly enjoyed going on rides in the truck with her Dad out to Cache Junction to watch the trains go by.
She was preceded in death by her father James Dee Fowers, and is survived by her mother Joyce, two sisters, Pamela (Dennis) and Teresa (Danny), one brother, Matthew (Lindsey), one nephew, Graham, and three nieces, Kirsten, Kimber, and Brooke.
Funeral services will be held at 11am Monday, April 18, 2016, at the North Logan 10th Ward, 1550 East 1900 North, North Logan. There will be a viewing at the Allen Mortuary of North Logan, 420 East 1800 North, on Sunday, April 17, 2016, from 5 to 7 p.m. and at the church Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in the North Logan Cemetery.
Janell, how I miss your companionship already. You are my constant, my sidekick, and I love you with all my heart. Love, Mom.
