WELLSVILLE – Janet Leatham Hawkes, 65, passed away peacefully Sunday, July 1, 2012, at the McKay Dee Hospital, Ogden, Utah from complications with pneumonia. She was born on January 14, 1947 in Logan, Utah, to Horace and Nettie Corbett Leatham of Wellsville, Utah. She was married to Randall Dean Hawkes on June 2, 1967 and the marriage was solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. She graduated from Skyview Highschool and Beau La Reine College of Beauty.
Janet was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Wellsville 3rd Ward) and served various callings including Relief Society, Primary, Sunday school and other Church activities, she was presently serving in the library which she so loved due to the interaction that she had with all members of the ward. She was involved in the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, and was currently serving as Captain of the Daniel H. Wells Camp. She retired from Clearfield Cheese/Schreiber Foods after many years of service, having enjoyed the work, responsibilities, and interaction with management and fellow employees. She enjoyed family time, travel, shopping and especially Court Room Television drama as a favorite past time. At home, she enjoyed the leisure of canning and baking, and was often praised for her baked apple pies and sugar cookies. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend, always available and ready to lend a helping hand.
She is survived by her husband, Randall Dean, and daughters Candis Hawkes, of Santa Monica, California and Britney Moore (Michael) , of Columbus, Ohio; daughter-in-law Annette Bell; 3 grandchildren – Hunter, Cody, and Adam. She was preceded in death by her parents; son Travis; and granddaughter's McKenzie & Cassidy. She is also survived by her siblings, Daniel Leatham of Logan, Utah, Ardis Tingey (Bill) of Wellsville, Utah and Robert Jay Leatham of North Hollywood, California.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday July 6, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Wellsville 3rd Ward Chapel located at 195 South Center in Wellsville with Bishop Gordan conducting. Friends may call at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center in Logan, Thursday, July 5, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and at the church prior to services from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Wellsville City Cemetery.
