Jannett Humpherys McEntire
Jannett Humpherys McEntire passed away on March 21, 2011 at the age of 81 in Logan Utah. Jan was born May 25, 1929 to Le Grande & Janette Humpherys in Logan Utah. Le Grande or “LR” was the Dean & Chair of the Department of Agriculture at Utah State University. Janette or “Nettie” was an accomplished lecturer and vocal soloist.
Jan was the youngest of 6 children and the only daughter. After graduating from Logan High School, she attended Utah State University where she obtained a bachelors degree in elementary education with an emphasis in special education and a minor in music. She met Reed Stanley McEntire at USU and subsequently married him in the Logan, Utah Temple where they were sealed for time and all eternity on September 10, 1951. Reed and Jan moved to Preston, Idaho to assist Reed’s ailing father on the family farm. Jan taught elementary level school for 3 years during 1965 to 1970 at Preston, Lava, and Grace.
Jan had a great love and a significant capacity to care for children. They were blessed with five children one daughter, Barbra, who died at age 3 days, and two other sons, Bobby and Tommy, who each had Down syndrome.
Jan was a remarkably talented pianist and organist. She shared her talents playing a vast and diverse array of music for receptions, events, and soloists. She played the organ for her church congregation for countless years. Jan was very family oriented, a sensational cook, and a tremendous housewife.
Jan is survived by two sons Stanley (Mona) Reed McEntire of Boise, Idaho and Jonathan (Kathryn) Rich McEntire of Centennial, Colorado. Jan was preceded in death by her husband Reed Stanely McEntire, one daughter, Barabara Ann McEntire, two sons Thomas “Tommy” McEntire, Robert “Bobby” McEntire, and five brothers, Dean H Humpherys, Russell L Humpherys, Max W. Humpherys, Grant R. Humpherys, and Dr. Roy W. Humpherys
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 25th 2011 at Allen-Hall Mortuary 34 East Center Logan. A viewing will be held prior to the service at the Allen- Hall Mortuary from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Interment will take place at the Logan Cemetery.
