Jay Robert Griffin, 62, passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2019 at his home in Amalga, Utah, following lengthy health problems. He was born January 7, 1957 to Robert Michael and Cleo Skinner Griffin. He grew up in Newton, Utah and attended local county schools. He married Danna Bittle in 1976, and they had two children (Billie Jo and Jayson). They were later divorced, and he married Connie Nielsen in 1988, who died in 2004.
Jay was a hard worker and worked for several farmers during his teenage and young adult years. He became an appliance/HVAC repairman and could fix most anything. He owned and operated his own scrapyard for the past 20+ years and also worked for Deseret Industries for over 20 years hauling scrap metal.
Jay had a great sense of humor, a generous and kind heart, was a friend to many, and willing to help anyone in need. He faced many challenges in his life and overcame many trials. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
He is survived by his two children, Billie Jo (Ed) Zimmermann and Jayson Black, and his six grandchildren, Cora, Asa, Lyric, Rayne, Mia Rose and Ayden. He is also survived by his mother, Cleo Griffin, and his siblings, Sherry Johnson, Dan (Janis) Griffin, Roland (Michelle) Griffin, Wendy (Rob) Bourne, and Lynnette Jones, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Mike Griffin, his brother Bret Griffin, and his sister Jannell Griffin.
Services are under the direction of Allen-Hall Mortuary. A private family graveside service will be held.
