Jay Dennis Hoth, 78, passed away in Logan, UT on August 2, 2013 of natural causes. Born November 20, 1934, in Logan, UT to Charles Frank and Olive Maddox Hoth.
Married to Genice Morgan on September 11, 1957 in the Logan LDS Temple.
Jay was a lifelong resident of Logan and attended Logan schools, graduating from Logan High in 1953. He served an LDS mission to the New England States. He worked for his Uncle Irvin Maddox during his youth, made cheese at Cache Valley Dairy and was a Milkman for a short period after being married. He spent most of his working years at Thiokol, and then drove a school bus during the first part of his retirement. He and Genice have lived in their current home for 47 years and have been active members of the LDS Logan 10th ward. He liked to play and be with his family. He loved to be with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was an avid hunter. He could always be found fishing or telling fish stories. Besides his family, fishing was his true passion in life. He spent his last minutes on this earth searching for rock rollers for his next fishing trip with his beloved wife and best friend, Genice. His courage and bravery for the last 23 years were unmatched. He was our hero.
Jay is survived by his sweetheart of 56 years, Genice Morgan Hoth. He is survived by his children Michael Jay Hoth (Melanie) of Tucson AZ, Jeffrey Randall Hoth (Allison) of Franklin ID, Tammie Hendricks (Steven) of Layton UT, Jana Roylance (David) of Broomfield CO, and 19 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by three brothers Deverle Hoth (JoAnn), Raymond Hoth (Kathy), Valden Hoth (Ann) and two sisters Lila Thompson (Melvin), and Charlene Liljenquist (Larry).
Jay was preceded in death by his Parents, one grandson Douglas Hoth, and one great-grandson Quinten Jay Anderson.
Services will be held at the Logan LDS 10th Ward chapel, (500 E, 800 N) at 12:00 PM on Wednesday August 7th. There will be a viewing held Tuesday at Allen Hall Mortuary from 6:00 to 8:00 and Wednesday from 10:30 to 11:30 at the 10th Ward Chapel.
