Jay Thomas Eliason Obituary
Old pilots never die, they just fly away.
Jay Thomas Eliason, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on Sunday August 23, 2009 at Sunshine Terrace.
Jay was born on April 25, 1932 to John Thomas and Julia Sargent Lockett Eliason in Hyrum Utah.
He attended South Cache High, where he was active in baseball, football, and was class president and president of the Seminary.
After graduating, he attended Utah State University and received his Bachelors and Masters in Accounting.
While at USU he joined the Air force ROTC and graduated as a Commissioned Officer. He attended Flight School in Missouri and completed his three years active duty as a pilot for the Strategic Air Command in 1955. He retired as a Lieutenant Colonel from the Air force Reserve in 1975.
He also worked as an accountant for the IRS and Thiokol Corporation.
He met and married the love of his life Earlene Michaelson in Salt Lake. They were married March 30, 1972 in the SLC Temple. They are the proud parents of Brian John (Melissa), Andrew Jay, Mark Thomas (Jamie) and Elizabeth (Patrick) Rose.
They have five grandchildren, Sarah, Sean and William Jay Rose. Jenna and Parker Jay Eliason.
Jay was a devoted husband, father, and member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He served in church callings for 25 years. Ward clerk for two Bishops, counselor for four Bishops, and a High Council member. He also served in the Logan Temple for two and a half years.
Jay loved to fly. He loved to tease. He loved his family. He loved his house in Hyrum. He loved the Gospel, and was a loyal and devoted friend to all who knew him. He will be missed by all.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, August 29, 2009 at noon in the Hyrum Utah North Stake Center. located at 245 N. Apple Dr. (750 E.)
A viewing will be held Friday August 28, 2009 at Allen-Hall Mortuary from 6:00-8:00 pm, 34 East Center St., Logan, UT.
